This page is designed for you to navigate easily and comfortably to attain the information you need about buying and returning goods from this online store.  Our experience in the opal industry allows us to input the data that is most requested and needed by many customers.  But should you require any assistance or further information we are only an e-mail away.


Terms-and-Conditions

All our Opal products come with a 30 day Unconditional money back guarantee, from the date it is invoiced.  If you are not totally satisfied with your purchase for any reason what so ever, you can return it to us for the full purchase price refund. [minus any credit card charges] Shipping & Insurance and any Transaction Fee involved will not be refunded.

We have a couple of rules in the Returning of Goods and we do try to fair both ways.

Rough Opal due to the nature of what it is, is sold on the basis as what you see is what you have bought and no refunds will be given, unless otherwise stated on the page where it is advertised for sale.

Every effort will be made to ensure that you know what you buying, before it is sent, but like here in Coober Pedy, when it is sold, it is sold, if fact you have a better view of what you are buying than they do here, as it is magnified and you can see it better.

During the time that you are in possession of the Opal Product, it is solely your responsibility to protect it from theft, loss or damage.



Ordering-Information

Every item we sell is carefully inspected before it is shipped and is packed in a crushproof box to prevent any damage & we hope that it arrives that way, but it is going a long way through the post!

To order through our secure server please use the buttons you see at the bottom of all pages that items are for sale, this is the best, quickest & safest way to Shop.

Orders for items are processed on a first in is the first served basis.  If you use regular mail ( Snail Mail ) of sending us your order, someone else may get the item before we receive your order!



Refund-Policy

If merchandise is defective or damaged upon receipt please contact us immediately after your package arrives.  All claims MUST be made within 24 hours of receipt of order, that includes if you want to send the item back for a refund.

The Goods can only be returned within 30 day from the invoiced date. (the date we mail it to you) and an e-mail must be sent within 24 hours of receiving the goods, notifying us that you are returning the item, a 10% Restocking Fee may be charged and deducted.

If we know that there is an package on the way & it does not turn up in reasonable amount of time we can contact you with that information.

On Receipt of returned goods we will arrange with our payment service provider PayPal or 2Checkout for a full refund of the purchase price minus any Credit Card or Customs Charges back into your credit card or checking account by them if it is not to late as there is a time limit from them, or a US Check will be sent to you, there will be a restocking fee of 10% of the purchase price on all goods sent back.

You will be sent an e-mail notifying that the refund has been authorized after the goods have been received and inspected to make sure everything is in good order or that we have posted a check and its on the way and the balance that you will be receiving.

SPECIALS:
There can be no returns on any items that have been bought at a reduced price as they are considered to be on special and specials are non returnable.

There will be no refunds on any Opal Rough, Cut Stones or Jewelry that have been worked, altered or damaged in any way. (period)     Shipping charges etc, will not be refunded.    Sorry.

There is no return on any opal rough parcel unless otherwise stated on the page it was for sale on at the time it was bought.



Returning-Goods

Please return the packing slip, (keep a hard copy for your own records!) along with a note stating the reason for the return. (for our own records)

The purchaser is responsible for all postage & insurance costs incurred in returning goods.

Returned items are to be sent prepaid & insured.  Send to the return address on the packing slip. Shipping & Insurance charges are non-refundable and we cannot & will not accept COD packages.

During the time that you are in possession of the Opal Product, it is solely your responsibility to protect it from theft, loss or damage.

Returned goods must be in their original condition & packaging for refund.

We will not accept back for refund any Cut Stones, Opal Rough or Inlaid Rings that have been worked or altered in any way from its original size, shape or weight.

Return Post Procedure.
Put a copy of your original order in an envelope.  Write "Original Order being Returned" on the envelope and attach it to the outside of the parcel so that customs don't have to open the parcel to confirm.

Lost-Goods

Any Goods that are lost in Transit is not the fault of either party.

Any and all items that go missing or gets lost in shipping are to be replaced with a similar item in Size, Shape, Metal and Value to the item that went missing, as Opal is a one of a kind stone, it would not be possible to replace the lost item with exactly the same size and shaped stone, but rather a stone of similar quality, pattern, size and shape.

There will be no refund of monies under these circumstances.

Return Post Procedure.
We will pay the postage and insurance on the replacement item back to you, but should the item is sent back for a full purchase refund the cost of the postage, insurance and credit card fee will be deducted from your refund.



Insurance

All purchases should be insured prior to shipping, just in case the item goes missing or gets damaged in the post.

If an item is sent uninsured at a customers request & it goes missing or gets damaged after it has entered the postal system, it means the customer has been deemed to carry the insurance risk themselves and therefore have no right to request or ask for a refund, as they will get no refund.

Postal Insurance Rates are:
The insurance fee is US$9.50 for the first $100.00 or part thereof, plus US$3.50 for every additional US$100 (or part thereof) up to approx US$4000.00.

EXAMPLE If your purchase is US$433.00 the insurance is calculated as follows: 4 x US$3.50 = US$14.00 + US$9.50 for the first $100.00, this is a total of US$23.50 and is added to your purchase price of US$433.00 giving a total of US$456.50.

Items over AUD$2000.00:
The maximum insured value with the ECI Postal Service is AU$5,000.00. [roughly US$3000]

For purchases AU$2,000.00 and over a Customs Broker will be contacted and a ECN number will have to be acquired, for more info on this please contact us..  For purchases over AU$5,000.00 [roughly US$3000] private insurance cover will have to be arranged and these details and costs will be emailed to you for your approval.

Australia Post will not insure freight to several countries including Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Germany, and Kosovo.  Additionally services have been suspended to Iraq, Sierra Leone and Somalia.

Warranty

All Opal Jewelry supplied by Internet Opals comes with a full six (6) month International Warranty, covering any defects in material and workmanship, unless otherwise stated.   Should a fault in any piece of opal jewelry we have supplied become apparent within six (6) months after the date of purchase we Guarantee it will be repaired free of charge.

This Guarantee does not cover:-

1) If the item shows signs of abuse it will not fixed under warranty, so please examine it properly before sending it back.
2) Damage after the guarantee expiry date.
3) Once the item has been altered or resized, the warranty is null and void.
4) Any damage due to the owners mishandling, remodeling or faulty repairs.
5) Damage due to fires or other natural disasters.
6) Customer must pay shipping and insurance for the item to sent back and returned to them.
7) If the customer Fails to Email Internet Opals that item has been received within 24 hours of receiving it, the warranty will not cover this item. (There is a reason for this)
8) Postage and insurance to be paid by the customer both ways.

Taxes-and-Duties

Some countries will charge additional tariffs, duties, customs charges or taxes.  These will be the responsibility of the recipient for payment as they arrive in that country.

Internet Opals is not responsible for any taxes or duties imposed by countries other than Australia.

You are normally notified by the customs dept of your country that they have your parcel and of any duties that are payable on the goods entering into your country.

In Australia and the U.S.A. on small parcels, you are notified by the post office (they put a slip or card in your postbox) your package is there and what duties in any are payable on it when you pick it up.

To our knowledge there is no duty applicable on Rough Opal into any country and no duty on Cut Opal Stones, as there are classified as Gem Stones which carries no duty.  There is a Duty on Precious Metal Jewelry (Gold, etc) I only know the U.S.A. on this one and is between 5½% — 6½% , it would be advisable to give the customs dept a ring and make further inquires when you know the price of the Item you are interested in.



Catalog

We don't have a printed catalog.

Our inventory is to large and changes constantly, as some of our items in it are on consignment from other cutters or miners of this town.

Which under the circumstances would make any printed catalog impossible and costly to produce.

We keep the on-line web pages accurate and up to date as soon as new items are created, or brought to us to be entered in there categories.

These pages are your best source of current information.

Credit-Cards

Through our Secure Servers PayPal and 2Checkout and we can accept the following Credit Cards :
Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Credit Card holders name and address MUST be the same as the shipping name and address.   If shipment must be made to another address, please E-Mail us for arrangements.

All credit card transactions will be verified prior to shipping, and your order will be normally shipped within 24 hours of receiving the credit card approval.



Credit

Credit :
We don't run credit accounts, businesses who do have to increase their prices to cover themselves for when someone dishonest cheats them.

I have a friend here in Coober Pedy, a dealer, who in the year 2000, lost US$60,000 through giving credit to just one person who he had been dealing with for years in the U.S.A.

This means everyone is paying for the Ratbag.  We'd rather not deal with the Ratbags of this world from the start, most of our business is done the modern and easiest way, with credit cards.  This means that we can give you the best deal.

If something has to be returned, it's a simple matter of a issuing a refund to your credit card.

And if you cannot afford to buy what we have for sale, then you should not be trying to buy it in the first place, this Opal Mining is a Cash Business and that is the way I sell my opal, for Cash, no Cash no Opal, simple.

Exchange rate differences are all sorted out by the credit card company.

I will issue a refund as soon as possible that same day and your card or account will be credited but it may take a day or so to show up on your records.

Email me right away if there is any concern.



Shipping-Normal

If you need to send item you want to buy to a different address other than the billing address of the credit card holder please email us and explain why this address needs to be different.

All orders should be sent insured, for your own protection, but it is up to you!

Our shipping policy is simple, all deliveries are sent, both within Australia and Overseas, using the professional service of the Australia Post.  For all our opals products and jewelry we ship the product by normal Air Mail except for items over AUD$2000, they will be sent via ECI, info below.

Postage and Handling for up to 250 grams is US$19.50, this is per order not per item and will be added to the product purchase price. This will automatically be added to your purchase cost and will be shown in the Order Now page.  A 10 to 14 day delivery time covers most places in the world.

Item will be shipped out after payment is confirmed and cleared, normally one working day or sooner.

Shipping-Express
Express Post
INSURANCE ON OPAL PRODUCTS HAS BEEN SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY WITH THIS SERVICE.

This service can only be used at this time if you are happy with sending the item UNINSURED!

We have used this service many times for Customers since 2002 and have never experienced any problems or anything go missing with it.

ECI is an International Courier that has special Customs Clearance, similar to FedEx, but here in Coober Pedy, South Australia we do not have access to FedEx, so we use ECI.

Postage and Handling is a flat rate of US$60.00 for up to 500 grams.

Delivery should take approximately 3 — 4 working days with this service, this time is to the point of entry to your Country excluding delays caused by customs inspection, from there it is up to your Postal Delivery Service to get it to you, this time we cannot know but normally we have found that this service is delivered to customers in a 6 to 7 days from the time we put it in the mail.

Custom fees, import duties, VAT/GST and/or other relevant fees may be imposed by your country and are payable by the buyer.

Item will be shipped out after payment is confirmed and cleared, normally one working day or sooner.

Australian-G.S.T.

The G.S.T. is a Tax for the people within Australia & is a add on Sales Tax of 10%.

Internet Opals adds the G.S.T. onto the cost of the product as it is sold, because as we now deal with other countries on the Internet, they are excluded from this tax & the G.S.T. tax is a local one, so to speak.

For Purchases within Australia, 10% of the Total Purchase Cost will be added on for the G.S.T.

Unclaimed-Goods

Items that are returned back to us in the post as unclaimed will be held here for a period of thirty days only. (30)

During that period we will attempt to contact you :
1. One (1) Postcard will be sent the day after we receive the item back, which may take up to two (2) weeks to reach you.

2. After that has been sent, via email, three times (3) week for the 4 weeks.

We will resend the items for additional shipping charges, to be paid for prior to postage.

If you fail to respond to our contact/s within the 30 day period, the item/s will be returned to our inventory to be resold, no refund will be given.

No Excuses will be Accepted, sorry.

What we do with your credit information.

Using our encryption system, it is much safer buying online than using your credit card at any of the local shops & service stations.

You don't really know the person at the checkout and you hope that they are honest.

At Internet Opals everything is here for you to check out for yourselves, and you can make an informed decision about whether you want to trust us or not.
