10 minute movie on the Round Tunnel Machine working underground on this claim at the Emu Field, when I first put the machine down and started a drive to make more room next to the shaft that we would put the ladders and winch on when finished setting up, bit of cleaning up using the floor cutter on the machine as well, this ground you see it working in is very, very hard.
This is the biggest round tunnel machine in Coober Pedy to my knowledge, it is defiantly the only one with floor cutters on it making what is called a Key Hole Drive and I can cut a 7 foot diameter if I want too, but have the machine set to cut a 6 foot - 1 inch diameter which is plenty of dirt to remove, with this machine I can stand up in the drive with my miners helmet on, this cannot be done with any other round tunnel machine as they leave a layer of dirt on the bottom of the drive for the tunnel machine tracks to run on, so the roof is not as high in there drives and you have to walk with a bent back all the time.
I know of 4 round tunnel machine that can only cut a 5 foot - 7 inch diameter and with the dirt being left on the floor you would have about 5 foot head room, have banged my head in one of these drives many times, this is the main reason that I bought this machine because of the Key Hole Drive it can do and I can stand up while working, not the fasted in town, but does move a lot of dirt cutting a 6 foot 1 inch circumference.
Please allow for the streaming of the movie and if you have a dial up connection it will be very slow.
