All of our opal rough is sold in Troy Ounces, there are 20 pennyweights and 31.103 grams to the ounce, 5 carats in a gram and 155.1 cts to the Ounce.
OPAL ROUGH FOR INTERMEDIATE TO SKILLED LEVEL CUTTERS:
This is a shell that I found along with 2 others on the 20th of September 2006, this one is a very nice
Green/Blue in color, it is a full shell, can be classed as a specimen but has natural division lines in it, in other
words it will come apart in pieces, it is solid color right through, you can see batter what I am talking about in the
extra photos, it is 38.4mm in width, 32mm in depth and 16.9mm in height as you see it below and weighs in at 21.1 grams,
this weight includes 4 small pieces that came odd it and one extra that is from a skin shell of the same color and the
same place as the shell, this shell is not being sold as a Specimen but as Opal Rough, there is one real big piece in
this shell that would make a Magnificent stone, was almost tempted to keep this for this piece myself for a ring stone.
This shell is as how I found it for except cleaning most of the ironstone off it and during the cleaning these small
pieces came adrift from it, will cut some nice stones, can also be used for inlay, should get quite a few pieces out
of it for that, please look at the extra photos (link below) so you can the shell all the way round, one photo shows
you the division lines in detail, what you see if what you will get when to buy it.
Due to differences in computer monitor quality the color's shown here may vary slightly from the actual product and normally are
better in real life, Please remember that these opals are blown up so you can see right into them and the camera picks everything
at close rage, more then the human eye can.
The extra photos will show what the parcel has in the way of color, what you see here is what
you will get, I do not enhance the photos in any way and all are taken in water and direct sunlight.
The Coin is a USA 25¢ Piece, it will give you some idea of the size of the opal pieces, the photo's will give you
some idea of the color of the opal, but it will always be better in real life when seen with the naked eye under natural light,
